The Green Task Force Mission is to create green jobs, improve environmental policy and build a more sustainable city.
- The Green Task Force is the First Task Force to submit a charter required report.

Advocated for and provided support for drafting and passage of the City of Detroit's Post Construction Stormwater Ordinance.
- Advocated for and provided support for drafting and passage of the City of Detroit's Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Ordinance.
- Facilitated approval of a Host Community Agreement with U.S. Ecology.
The Current Leaders for the Green Task Force are Councilman Scott Benson, and Senior Policy Analyst Kerwin Wimberly.
On March 28, 2007, the Detroit City Council approved a resolution to create the Green Task Force to advise the council on green principles and practices to better serve the City of Detroit.
