Individuals and businesses are encouraged to take steps to stay safe online during Cybersecurity Awareness Month
October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Cyber threats pose a serious danger to the online safety of all individuals and organizations. This year’s theme is Secure Our World. Cybersecurity Awareness Month highlights the growing importance of cybersecurity in our daily lives and encourages individuals and businesses to take important cybersecurity steps every day to Secure Our World and stay safe online.
Detroit Homeland Security & Emergency Management and the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency encourage all individuals and businesses to take four easy steps each day to ensure our online safety:
- Use Strong Passwords and a Password Manager
- Turn on Multifactor Authentication
- Update your Software
- Recognize and Report Phishing
The goal of Cybersecurity Awareness Month is to provide everyone with the information they need to stay safe and more secure online.
