Department of Neighborhoods Director

Leading the Department of Neighborhoods is Erinn Harris, who served as the DON deputy director for the past four years. A lifelong Detroiter, Harris attended Crockett Technical High School and has a cosmetology license. She also holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Eastern Michigan University.
Harris joined the Duggan administration as District 5 deputy manager for the Department of Neighborhoods serving from 2014-2017. She served as District 3 manager from 2017-2021 before being promoted to the DON Deputy Director.
Harris has worked closely with neighborhood block clubs across the city and has helped residents organize to create more than 100 new block clubs, bringing the total to more than 600. Harris also was the point person with residents in each of the five solar neighborhood communities, spending hundreds of hours meeting with neighbors and answering their questions.
