PARK IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
The park is part of the Strategic Neighborhood Fund (SNF) initiative, which stems from the Warrendale/Cody Rouge Framework Plan. Recognizing the need for a park in the Warrendale/Cody Rouge community, the City of Detroit General Services Department acquired the site after the former Dixon Elementary School building was demolished in 2017. With funding from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), SNF partner The Huntington National Park and the Gilbert Family Foundation, construction began in Fall 2022 and was completed in Summer 2024.
