Recycle Here! is free for all Detroit residents
Recycle Here! is a recycling drop-off facility located in NW Goldberg. Recycle Here! offers a unique recycling experience- complete with colorful surroundings and a "junk hole" area where visitors can bring functioning non-recyclable items to donate to community members. Bring your recyclable materials to Recycle Here! and staff can help you sort items into the correct bin.
Materials accepted at Recycle Here! include:
- STYROFOAM: Take out containers and packing peanuts. All items must be clean and of a proper consistency of polystyrene.
- FILM PLASTICS: #2 and #4 - grocery bags and packaging.
- HARD PLASTICS: #1-7, excluding #3 plastics. To ensure that an item is recyclable it must be labeled with a recycling number and symbol from the manufacturer.
- METAL: All containers, all types. Large scrap items will be subject to the discretion of staff.
- GLASS: All containers. NO window glass, treated glass, or Pyrex.
- PAPER: All loose leaf, magazines, newspaper, mailers, envelopes, posters, and flyers. NO tissue paper or wax paper. All shredded paper should be bagged separately.
- CARDBOARD: Boxes are easy to identify, but be sure the item is completely made of brown paper material. Cardboard muse be broken down, flattened and easy to handle.
- ASEPTIC CARTONS: All carton containers such as orange juice and plant-based milk cartons.
- BOOKS: Paper back, hard cover. NO binders.
All materials must be clean, containers empty, and boxes flattened.
Recycle Here! DOES NOT accept the following items:
- Electronics
- Batteries
- Light bulbs
- Ink cartridges
Please take these items to the Household Hazardous Waste facility.
